Pets in Apartments, Condo Rules

Lately, the department's Legal LPDA - Portuguese League for Animal Rights has received many calls from people who are faced with the fact that the administrators of buildings wish to introduce the rules of the condominium, the prohibition of animals in apartments.

This stance not only against law but also acquired the right provided by law regarding the whereabouts of animals in apartments.

In addition, it is a position that interferes with the rights of people with regard to his private life, and worse than that, this is a marginalization of animals that can and often leads to their abandonment by lack of clarity.

Thus L.P.D.A., points out that:

There is legislation that governs the requirements for the care of the animals in the apartments. However, there is no law that prohibits people from having them. The latest, Decree No. 1427/2001 of December 16, defines the art. Paragraph 1 point 2 - "Where are the conditions of health and tranquility of the neighborhood, can be accommodated per room up to three dogs and four cats "- ie up to 4 animals.

The Civil Code considers the animals belonging (a good) of people, making them responsible for them in all situations, so people can not be robbed of their possessions and goods or by any regulation of condominium baseless plausible.

When the contract is entered into the promise of buying and selling or renting an apartment and to the buyer or tenant be informed that there is a regulation that prohibits access to animals, that regulation should be posted on the property.

Any regulation made in the posterior can not be applied to those who already have acquired rights. The tenancy regulations only apply from your approval and provided it is approved by the majority as the condominium law. Still, their validity is questionable because there is no law prohibiting possession of animals, quite the contrary.

This is also the legal opinion of DECO to transcribe:

Art. No 1422. Of the Civil Code, which makes the enumeration of limitations on the exercise of the rights of apartment owners do not mention any such restriction.

Food for Dogs and Cats

Some owners resort to leftovers from their own meals to feed their pets, have to be doing it right, giving the animal a varied, tasty (thanks to the spices used) and that gives him immense pleasure, particularly to chew bones left over from lunch or dinner the night before. Those owners with good intentions, are harming your pet. Although many people consider that "the dog or cat is to eat leftovers, your digestive system is as sensitive as the human or even more, does not tolerate certain foods (pork and its derivatives, for example), and seasonings harm including the quality of the hair. The bones, which give so much pleasure to the animal come to be fatal, especially if they are easy to turn into chips, which move along the digestive tract will cause several very serious injuries or even perforation.

The love that some owners are dedicated to your pet makes you want to give the best possible type of power: They devote hours to preparing cooked more or less elaborate, they include meat or fish of better quality, assorted vegetables and rice or pasta sometimes spicing to provide "more taste." Hardly accept that the puppy or kitten does not mind eating two meals followed the same diet. This form of food, is closer than would be ideal because it enters into with regard to the different needs of the animal, however, is virtually impossible in our homes, prepare meals that encompass everything that the dog / cat need and especially in adequate doses. Apart from this, is a type of food becomes too expensive and cumbersome, especially if it is a large breed animal.

The market for animal products has increased enormously in the last ten years and with it the dog food industry, which has evolved so that there are many brands that we could find on supermarket shelves, with packaging more or less attractive and affordable. However not all brands have the quality we want to provide "our four-legged friends."

The correct way to feed our pet goes through the purchase of rations leofilizadas, commonly referred to as "dry rations", "croquettes" or "balls". These exist in many forms and flavors, with packages ranging from a few grams up to about 20Kg. In general they are pleasant to the palate of the animal, with the advantage that they are extremely practical, ready to eat, requiring only a small bowls of water next to the animal to quench thirst, as they will delight with this type of food.

Within the various brands available, one can distinguish two types: the standard range, widely distributed to supermarkets, and premium and super premium range is only sold in specialty stores, such as veterinary clinics and animal life.

The range of standars are sold at extremely affordable prices, but not always of good quality. In the premium and super premium materials by the use of the highest quality ingredients - usually chooses to by:

Fresh meat, responsible for high digestibility and intake of animal protein that must correspond to a minimum of 12% (ideally 25%) of the energy supplied by the diet;
in fiber (usually in the form of wheat, rice or corn, the first being the most easily digestible) between 2 and 5%, ensuring proper functioning gastrointestinal tract, without excesses that increase fecal bulk;
greater amount of calcium for puppies or lactating bitches (about 1.3%)
lower in fat to obese animals, as opposed to 30% to provide a lactating female, and supplements rich in vitamins (A, C, D, E, K and B complex, etc.).

The correct balance of nutrients causes the animal to ingest small amounts of food daily. The simultaneous or subsequent intake of water will cause the pieces of food to swell in the stomach (when they are hydrated) and the animal satisfied. Thus, a diet that at first glance seem very expensive, it becomes much more economical:
- The animal eats less, and the packing becomes more profitable;
- We do not have any discomfort to cook food;
- Except in cases of rapid growth, waiver is the vitamin supplements and minerals;
- The animal will grow healthy, shiny coat, healthy skin, healthy teeth (lower tendency to form tartar) and always shaped stools.

To satisfy the animal, but primarily for the owner feels he is giving a special treat for your dog, can provide you with long intervals (more than once a week) a meal made by you, including all beef (never pork and always boneless) or fish cooked without seasoning, accompanied by cooked rice and vegetables (carrot, turnip, watercress, lettuce ...). As a "treat", the dog should only eat sporadically own biscuits for dogs, or piece of fruit, raw carrots, and sometimes a biscuit and salt water. If you want to give your dog a bone for him to crown length, refer only to the knee bone of a cow, which he can not break, and therefore will not cause problems.

Following this advice, our fuzzy little friends grow up healthier and may share his company for a long time.

Aspects to take into account in choosing a pet

When choosing a pet note:

- Personality / temperament characteristic of the animal (if it is dependent or independent, need much or too little attention)
- Life expectancy (estimate of how many years will have the animal)
- Daily time needed
- Initial cost e. .. maintenance (accessories, food, health, vaccines, etc.)
- Place will be (space required)
Choosing a pet is a very important step and should be well thought out. Do not be led solely by emotion!

SHOOTS EDIBLE
They call themselves "sprouted" to the shoots or sprouts (plants, micro-plants) obtained through the germination of seeds, belonging to several families of plants. Usually this is done in house germination, the shoots obtained are used daily in food. Germination is an extraordinary process that releases the energies latent in the seed resulting in a plant. Through this process, the starch into simpler sugars by enzymes and proteins are broken down into amino acids.

There are absorbing large amounts of water, to synthesize vitamins and enzymes, and there is a mobilization of minerals. Like cooking seed germination is a kind of pre-digestion. But unlike the case with cooking, there is no germination through loss of nutrients, on the contrary.

Sprouted seeds are a super - food for our health. Your unique biological value recommended for use by all households. Thanks to its high energy value and tonic, the germinated seeds should be eaten in preference to lunch, natural, salads, soup, following vegetables, sandwiches, etc..

Whole grains: wheat, rye, oats, barley ...
Legumes: soybeans, lentils, chickpeas, lupins, lucerne (alfalfa), pea ...
The diamondback: watercress, mustard, radishes, cabbage ...
Other: sunflower, garlic, onions ...

Preparation: The method of brewing is:

Easy: it can be done in any kitchen;
Economic: just heat water and environment to achieve the desired results;
Fast: a few minutes a day to take care of the seeds are sufficient.

The germinated grain is the initial moment, when only a small rod appears. Sprouts and sprouted grains are more nutrient-rich phases in plant development! They are easily digested and assimilated.

Sprout (seedling, plant micro-) is the advanced stage of initial germination of the seed. Usually the shoots are between 8 and 10 cm tall and have leaves set.

How is germination?
For shoots the best conditions and keeping all their great nutritional value it is advisable to use a special device germination (sold in this store).

Maintenance fosterer:
